post valentine's with family

And Family date is a must!! Simple meal at Pan De Amerikana.

Well, they do have an interesting interiors the same as the front of the shop that looks like indeed an inverted house with a parked red car. Too bad I didn't have a good shot of it because the place was packed and the cars parked in front was blocking the front view of the place.

After lunch.. I don't know whatever else happened. Felt like the day just flew by unnoticed and we just ended up in The Corner Café. The coffee shop literally found a corner street nearby our home.

Vday part2 with Aya

Continuing the night with Aya this time..

Wooot! Another round of food. I'm not really sure if I can still eat some more at the time she ordered few things from the menu.

Pumpkin waffle and Fried chicken

Popcorn and squid calamari

Margherita pizza
I did try a bite though just to try. Of course I'm biased with the squid just because I love squid! =P And then there goes another round of drinks..

Washington H Bomb

Serendipity3

sweet martini

Bloody Mary

We stuck around for a bit more, chitchatting and catching up.. and then it's time to go home.

Happy hearts' day all!

Vday = singles' nightout = girls' date-night

It's sort of a tradition for my girlfriends and I that we get to go out and spend valentine's day together be it the day before, the day itself or the day after. It is a must that we date and it is customary that we spend it with just the girls and daydream and plan and catch up or whatever.

This time I opted to take a time off work to spend more time with them and meet up with Aya later that night. Picking out a place... initially we planned to dance the night away. LOL However, our ageing heads kept on sticking out somewhere in between the time we are planning that we opted to just have some quality time together away from the party scene. Guess we're expiring soon! HAHA and in there goes the budget too. And so, in the end, we chose Borough in Podium. Aya highly recommended it and would love to be back with me.

Oh hell... It's Valentine's! Why didn't we call for a reservation? I don't know what to say. It slipped my mind. Being full at the time we walked it, we looked out for some other place to dine instead and promise to be back later tonight. =D Yes, quite persistent aren't we? Besides, patience is a real virtue!

We eyed out Casa Armas Tapas Bar y Restaurante just along the entrance of the mall. Think we were really that starved that we forgot to snap some shots together and the food. I really can't recall much of our food back there. We just had the usual, a platter of the special chef salad and croquettes for me, pasta for Ate Heidz, and chicken for Ralei. I'm really sorry, I can't recall exactly the Spanish dishes. Now I really feel bad about this, It's not that the food wasn't impressive it's just, the safe thing for us to eat. The place was nice except for the leaking ceiling at the staircase at the time we dined.

Then finally, a seat for four was freed in Borough when we checked it out for the second time.

And, now, we start the fun! (like we did not eat earlier??! yikes! overindulging indeed for the night!

Mac n' cheese

Grilled cheese and Tomato soup

Chicken cooked in chocolate plus green beans and sour cream sauce

It's a comfort food haven indeed! Mac n' cheese was really nice.. I died with all the cheese and calories in it! haha And Aya's favorite grilled cheese and tomato soup wasn't so bad. I'm not really a fan of tomato soup and trying this, I don't exactly had a change of heart but then again, I opened up for other options. While I find the tomato soup interesting, the chicken cooked in chocolate....well, it was really not my cup of tea. Although Ate Heidz took the liking of it. Ralei and I can't seem to wrap our heads around it's taste. It's fine for me but nothing so special. I guess it is something you get curious when seen in the menu.

We moved to another table later on.. and then, here came the drinks. They have quite a list! We decided to have two rounds of cocktails together before ending the night. I had my picks below...

Washington H Bomb

Serendipity 3

Washington H Bomb was a blast while Serendipity3 was lovely... ♥

Then finally to cap our night together..

Assorted baked cookies + Milk
Just in time when Aya arrived for another round of food and drinks, end my day with my girls...

Valentine's date!

It's the Hearts' day!♥

I arrived in the Express Bus Terminal just in time for our agreed time to meet. Unfortunately, I don't recognize this terminal from the picture we searched in the web. It's a whole lot different! Plus I can't contact Joanne-unni. What happened?? my phone is working but I can't contact her rented hand phone. So I tried my luck looking for a payphone to try to call her. I saw a guard and talked to him. He answered me with a puzzled look and said "어디에 가세요?" (where are you going to?) and I said, "아니요. 친구가 만나요. (no, I'll be meeting a friend.) Do you know where I can find a payphone to call her?" this and charade-like actions he understood and escorted me to the payphones. Thing is, I don't know how to use it.. My goodness! It's no use at all.. So i tried again my luck and texted Cecile-unni! Thanks to her I met Joann-unni and found out that there was two different terminals and the one we have set as a meeting place is across the street! my bad again! But glad we're just in time for the next trip to Jeonju! and here is where my Heart's day began!!! We are both excited to talk. Her mini adventures in Seoul alone for a few days before I arrived and my funny little encounters in the airport.

It was a really long drive I thought. Hours of driving without traffic??? Goodness, it is really a good long miles of travelling. For sometime we weren't tired of talking. How cold it was. How our flight to there was. How I did my mini presentation of itinerary to Mommy and Daddy. How she did hers. Our plans in Jeonju. What to do next after arriving to Jeonju. How to spend our whole day and a whole lot of expectations for the days to come! Our talks were endless! ^_^

Strike a pose unni! ^_^
Stopover!! stopover = halfway! I was so excited to feel the cold air again! and Joanne-unni was like, "Dongsaeng, aren't you feeling cold?". No, I so like it! I don't know why. Jeong-an Service Area is really nice. I saw this one spot with left over snow. It's cold and clean..

Left over snow..

This was just so adorable. While unni did her thing I took the liberty to walk around and saw this. =D

After 15minutes, were now back in track. And a few more hours, we're already tired and hungry!! We want some hot rice! It's past lunch and yet we're still on the road.. =( How terrible is that? another change in plans. Check in our hotel and look for good food is the first thing to do! We got there at around 2pm. and here goes another funny story. We don't know where our hotel is, we tried asking the bus driver and he answered "서울 사람" (I am from Seoul). And we're like, okay, so you don't know. We said our thanks and head outside, hailed a cab and ask to bring us to Benikea's Hansung Tourist Hotel! (http://www.benikea.com/_eng/hotel/hotel_detail.asp?hotelCode=1066) yay! super like the Hanji wallpaper! it's a win for a nice interior!

in the Lift
It was just nearby and in the middle of the shopping district near the Hanok Village. Thanks to 하늘오빠, Noh sonsaengnim's dongsaeng, for the great recommendations! We got a nice, clean hotel within the proximity of the shops and the traditional village. One thing I dislike about it is their creepy lift!!! In the few times we used it, we almost got stuck in there for more than two times! I think they should fix that. ^^ After checking in we checked out the ever famous Jeonju's bibimbap.

generous side dishes

more like a "POT" than a big bowl

Banya Dolseotbap

After filling our stomach, it's now time to burn it and do some site-seeings! yay! hello streets of Jeonju! The atmosphere is friendly.. I like it there. ^_^

Lovely Hanbok
Catholic Church

And here came the moment we were tempted to carve our names in one of the bamboos too!!! *envy*

how very tempting?!! Our theory on this one, the person who carved this was caught and wasn't able to finish it or he just wanted to leave a mark just like what we were thinking of doing! =P

My date aside from unni on a Valentine's day! This lovely tree!♥

Loving the blue sky! what a nice day! ^_^

We planned on trying Makkeolli, but we failed to because we were already exhausted from the long drive, and from walking around. We decided to just stay in the comfort of our room under the sheets of our warm ondol with soju and a couple of street food. And this is how our day ended! Tired from the whole day trip and wasted from soju.. just perfect!

the corn dog we craved so badly when we came back to Seoul!
